The current version of DocumentMaker is programmed to allow creation of simple documents, with clauses generally structured to permit the drafting of a security agreement and related documentation. Templates exist to create an agreement, a financing statement, a certificate, resolutions, a letter and a blank document. The clause library is under construction. As the library expands, drafting flexibility will expand. Future libraries may include clauses to draft certificates of incorporation and bylaws.
The current user interface permits the user to specify custom clauses.
The instructor is in the process of creating commentary on various clauses. Commentary will be added as time permits. To see a demonstration of the "in process" commentary feature, set up your own sample document and try to insert a clause relating to "collateral."
The goal of the DocumentMaker Project is to teach students about the relationship between the positive law and the agreements and other documents that they will be asked to review and draft as new attorneys.
